love this 🫶🏼 just came across your substack and it’s hitting in all the right places. my little joys are the time it takes to make homemade lattes for me and my husband, highlighting a favorite quote in a book i love, and the calmness in myself when awake early/before the day starts

"and the whole world after a thunderstorm" has to be one of my favorite lines I've read lately. And I couldn't agree more. 🖤

i have such a habit of treating myself to buying things after even the most minor inconveniences and i’ve really been trying to break out of it!! it’s so hard but it really is best to focus on the little things in life that aren’t so little in significance, i still buy myself a thing or two every once in a while when it’s really been difficult but it really can’t be every time! that being said, here are some of my little things that bring me joy: listening to music on my record player while i cook or bake (specifically chet baker, julie london, or ella fitzgerald & louis armstrong), watching ‘the holdovers’ (i have seriously watched it over 20 times and never get tired of it!), figure skating, collaging, crocheting, reading mary oliver’s poetry, taking silly little personality quizzes, going to the museum, etc!! ♥️

I am very much the type of person who buys myself treats after minor inconveniences or even just after doing chores that, as an adult, I don't deserve a treat for!! But I've been working on it too :) Love these little joys! I've never seen the holdovers but now I feel like I need to!!!

i’m so glad you get me on this!! it’s a hard habit to kick but it makes the times where you can reward yourself by buying stuff even more valuable i would say, and YES i highly recommend the holdovers!! it genuinely changed my life for the better, everyone should see it :) super happy i stumbled upon your blog!

Going on a road trip on a day off, dressing nicely, meeting my friends for coffe, long and meaningful conversations...

My girlfriends and I call those conversations “deep and meaningfuls” and when we need one, we’ll text the group and say we need a “D&M”!!

There is nothing better than a really cold glass of water sometimes, I see it as a real treat 😂

Some of my little things: cuddling my sleeping baby (I'm doing that right now!), hearing my children laugh, writing, reading, getting into bed when the sheets have just been cleaned, the last cup of tea of the day (not entirely free but I have it at home so not too spendy), bumping into a friend when I'm out and about, days that are warm but cloudy so I don't need a jacket but also don't need to worry about sunburn, singing along to Disney songs/musicals/Celine Dion, the sound of rain, chatting to my husband on long car journeys

Oh I love all of these so much!! The feeling of freshly washed sheets is the coziest, such a little luxury!!

I’ve been thinking about this so much!!! Little things that bring me joy: hot chocolate weather, getting to the last page of a book, the process of cooking dinner, and putting extra honey on my granola in the morning. Also, freshly cut grass is 😍

Love all of these!!! The process of cooking dinner is one that should be on my list, truly one of my favorite things to do!

For me it's: slow mornings with my children, a kid-free date night with my husband, a cozy candle, the feeling after a great workout, & the look on my toddler's face after I give her a cup of whipped with sprinkles on top! ☺️
