right? airports are weirdly romantic, endings and beginnings, goodbyes... this place that's kind of an in between. Sometimes I like being in transit, in makes me feel like I can really reflect on things, I don't have anything I should be doing or to do lists to check. loved reading this piece!

Omg whenever I see parents with small children on long international flights I am SO impressed!! As someone who isn’t a parent yet, it seems so daunting!

I always love a good and thoughtful airport piece. As someone who spent a lot of time in airports this past spring, I also had a lot of these thoughts which can be pretty wonderful to experience. Airports are a sort of limbo for life, but they are also packed with stories that are just waiting to be told.

I'm so glad you liked it!! "Packed with stories that are just waiting to be told." That is exactly it!! Everyone has a story and I am always dying to know what it is.

I loved these stories you created for these people, I could picture them all so perfectly and I wanted to know more!!

I do the same things at airports, always wondering who’s going where and what’s going on in their lives. I even wonder what they think my story is!

Loved this Maddie. Right on my travel wavelength. It will return to my mind on Sunday as I move with ly son through Milano Malpensa Italy on my way to Manchester UK. Work like this encourages me to keep writing. 🌼

Madeline 😍 big yes for this piece. "A stretch of time when you are no longer where you were, but not quite where you are going either." - airports are such a bizarre in between! And also a place that I never feel judged, it's almost like in the airport everyone accepts one another in a way that they don't in the 'real world'. I can look a mess and not feel like anyone cares about it. And also how glances with strangers at an airport are worth a thousand words - it's almost like airports let us sneak a closer look or hold a gaze a fraction longer! Such a strange environment and you captured it perfectly... again

Thank you so much, Ella!!! So true about glances with strangers being worth a thousand words. They really are, aren't they? It's like we have hundreds of mini-conversations with just a quick glance. 🩷🩷

I love this so much. I agree, airports are beautiful. And I also make up stories in my head of where these people maybe going and why. I also think sometimes of those I’ve interacted with while traveling wondering how they are. Such a beautiful post!

Oh my gosh, yes that last point!! There are definitely a few people I've encountered while traveling that I think about frequently years later. Crazy how some people just stick with us!

Thank you so much!! I totally get how airports can be very stressful, I've definitely burst into tears over flight delays or travel issues more than once, so despite enjoying airports and the crowds, I am definitely not immune to the bad parts either haha!
